4/13/2012 – I found this book at Half Price Books last night (a gold mine that place is, I tell you!) and I was simply enthralled by the cover. It is the story of Gabriella Mondini, a woman become doctor in the 16th century, a time when such a thing was utterly unheard of, even for the daughter of a renown physick.
The story begins with Gabriella narrating the story of a patient of hers who suffered from “corporeal confusion”, the inability to tell herself from whatever object that she is currently touching. It’s a short prologue but the imagery and flow of the prose is simply beautiful.
I am very much looking forward to delving into this beautiful book. ^_^
