Peter and Max by Bill Wellingham

OK, so in a random crawl through Alter-Ego Comics, I found this gem up by the cash register. I didn’t even KNOW that there was a Fables novel coming out! So, needless to say, I am super excited to read this. YAY!! ^_^

UPDATE, 11/20/2009: I am 3/4 of the way through this book and have quite enjoyed it so far. Peter is EVERY ‘Peter’ just as Bigby is EVERY ‘big bad wolf’ (Peter Piper, Peter Pumpkin-Eater, etc.) and his story, as well as that of his brother Max, is hugely compelling. And I love the backstory for Bo Peep and her family. The prose is fluid and rich and I adore Willingham’s writing. *sighs giddily* I am an English major in truth and this story really has thus far been a compliment to the Fables series.

FINISHED, 11/21/2009: Just finished the novel and, to be honest, I expected something a bit more…epic for the ending. But then, I suppose that sometimes the simplest thing is what it takes us the longest to figure out.

The story was lovely. Willingham’s prose is just…wonderful! The story felt rather quick but it read quite easily and felt like the stories we have come to expect from him. All in all, I really enjoyed this book. ^_^
